Advice for livescope rod

Once I get it built, i'm going to be using a livescope system. I've seen/heard of livescope "technique specific" rods. I'm not trying to mortgage the house, but would like a good quality, lightweight, rod.

What are your favorites and why?

ACC crappiestix 12 ft my buddy uses an 11 ft and he likes it also.They have plenty of backbone and sensitivity. I have a pfluger president on mine but I don’t recall the size offhand, might be a 30

It really depends on how you plan on fishing and then also what style rod you really like, a lot of good choices out there. Most of the “technique specific rods” you are referring to are probably going to be in the 13-15’ foot length. I personally still use regular length jigging rods quite a bit but I fish deeper, dirty water most of the time. A lot of guys pitch or cast now with Livescope now and are using 6-8’ foot rods. Beyond that type choice it’s kind of personal preference. I like the 13’ foot Huckabee Phantom for shallower water LS fishing and love the 10 foot Huckabee Elite as an all around LS rod but none of the Huckabee’s will be the lightest. You may prefer a lighter rod but with everything there are trade offs. Just have to figure out what works best for you. What I love about the Huckabee rods is they are more sensitive than any rods I have ever used. A lot confuse a flimsy tip with sensitivity and I would agree if you are watching rod tips but that isn’t what you are looking for in a LS rod. You want to feel everything and that is more easily achieved with a little stiffer rod than most are used to. Their other big advantage is they are so solid. Nothing wiggles or feels like it’s about to break swinging big fish into the boat. I have used about all the other rods over the years and to me the lightest rod isn’t the most important factor, but again that may be different for others.

I have the 7 foot ACC Crappie Stix. Light weight and very sensitive. I use it drift jigging with a tungsten ice jig tied on and tipped with a 1" gulp alive minnow.

A buddy of mine uses a 12' rear seat rod for LS flipping double jig rigs ... I use a 12' Buck's Graphite Jig Pole w/Mitchell 308x reel. I started out using my 10' rods (Sam's Super Sensitive & Huckabee Dipping) and felt at a little bit of a disadvantage when fishing alongside my buddy & his 12' rod ... which is why I now use the 12' BGJP.
