I'll see if I can contact the PFBC and see what they use. It may take a couple days because the time of year.

As luck would have it, I contacted the office and one of the guys answered. Now is where you need to sit down. The first thing that they tried was a cheese log. That produced mediocre results. The best results came from ---a bar of Dial soap. You can't make this stuff up. Wonder how they came up with that. That wasn't even in my top ten choices.

Soap contains animal fat. (Ever watch Fight Club?)

Animal fat is a good attractant. Soap has been used as bait on trot lines for ages.

Fished Lake Fork with a friend using a trotline. We used Zote soap and caught some large channel cat. It smells great and you can wash your hands after handling the fish.

My father in law and I used to bait trot lines with ivory soap and also old stale cheese.....the channel cats liked it. Flat head catfish like live bait tho.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Hmmm dial soap! Time to flatten and make nibbles out of it.
