    Default Your thoughts on this.

Garmin's first attempt at live sonar was greatly improved in the second product launch. Lowrance's history looks very similar assuming the new product lives up to the videos.

Now we could have Humminbird arriving at the party. Your thoughts on whether Humminbird will go through the same learning curve OR could they have held off and tried to get it right the first time.

One will not know that until they come out and are in use. That's with any piece of electronics you want to buy. I personally have no problem being an early adopter. I didn't have to be in the missile field for 40 years to know that if you wait on technology you will be waiting forever. I know that is a cliche but that really is how it is.

As Ketchn said, I doubt that I will ever own the HB version but I would like to see it in action. It's a shame HB wasn't first with this technology as I have always been a HB fan.

A little birdie told me Humminbird was set to premier Mega Live at the Crappie Expo in Branson but they are still tweaking it. I’m sure they have learned from other manufacturers rushing products to market and ending up with egg on their faces.

Same for me. I’ve been a Humminbird guy for a while, but with no set in stone release date and no real info other than it will be live sonar I couldn’t wait, especially with finding an echomap UHD 93sv for $600 and Garmin having the $200 rebate on the transducer. Really don’t think I’d be able to get in the Humminbird system for that cheap. Hope their product is great, competition is great for the consumer, but I just couldn’t make myself wait any longer.

That move by HB will probably be in everyones best interest. Just because they weren't first doesn't mean they can't be the best. I appreciate the fact that they didn't bring a product to market that wasn't right. In the end, we as consumers should benefit from the competition.

From what I saw of the transducer, if accurate, they will follow the same progression.
    Competition is great!
Very few companies are willing to wait, and not rush new electronics.
That includes HB, hope they learned there lesson, and it is released flawless.

HB knows how the competition performs and what anglers like about it. They won't sell many units if theirs underperforms. I would expect something equal or next level. The definition of next level could be interpreted many ways.
