    Default Livescope Or Active Target???

I usually don’t have a problem making a decision on these kind of situations.
I’ll have to admit.... I’m stumped...
Hate to beat a dead horse but looking for solid advice.
    Thanks in advance
    Chuck

I'll take a bite on your thread, Chuck. A lot of guys are gonna throw shoes at me for my comment, so let 'em fly! I would rather have an active target. I have no desire to buy and use Livescope, or have the money for it. If the fish are gonna bite, they'll bite. I can't see sitting there bouncing a jig in front of a crappie's nose trying to make him bite. I'm old school and enjoy being on the water and observing the nature God gave us. To me it is much more enjoyable and challenging of presenting the right jig or color. I started crappie fishing on the Tennessee River when I was 10 with my Dad, armed only with a cork and a minnow. Things have come a long way with electronics and bait, and I use electronics.

However, as far as you tournament guys, I fully understand your need for Livescope since money is on the line, and if you don't have it, you are at a distinct disadvantage.
I am soley responsible for these comments, so let the shoes fly! jmho

Get the one you can afford and learn how to get the best out of it for the way you plan on fishing.

I have had livescope for 2 years now. There are some issues with it but they are working on it still. Watch for the ghost tree and the black hole on the lowrance version and hummingbird when it comes out. The two issues have been a thorn in garmins rear end.
So I would wait until i could see some real world footage. The two issues with livesvope have not hampered my catch rate significantly but just rather an annoying annoyance.

I am really a Humminbird fan and if they would show some video it would help matters.
    I run 3 Birds now.
2 at the helm. 1 dedicated to mapping.
The other has side imaging and down. Both are 2D.
On the bow I run Mega down imaging.
Heard now that Humminbird wouldn’t be releasing their Mega Live until the spring of 2022.
Garmin and Lowrance are both about the same price range for 12 inch monitor(screen).
    What to do......
I fish 3-5 days a week even through out winter and as everyone knows the bite gets tough then. At least for me.
Everybody knows, a 6 year old fishing with a cigarette butt for bait can catch crappie in the spring. Lol Livescope Or Active Target???Livescope Or Active Target???

I have Livescope, love it but it has issues.
Live Target from Lowrance seems to be built very similar to Garmin Livescope and appears that it might have similar issues.
Humminbird Mega Live seems to be built on a different platform. It will be released.in January 2021 with expected ship dates later in March 2021. No real idea yet on how it will look. I'm really a Bird man myself so my expectations are very high.
For me I would wait a couple of months and see what Humminbird has.to offer. If I already had Lowrance units I would order Active Target.
I currently have a Garmin 8612 unit with Livescope, I love the unit but I'm very frustrated with Garmin and the issues with Livescope they created with Perspective View.
I believe me and allot of others will be selling our Garmin's if what Humminbird comes out with early next year doesn't have the issues that the current Livescope has.
    I'd wait.

    Thanks guys,
Waiting for Humminbird was my original plan but heard now that the release date won’t be until 2022.
Wish someone could at least nail down that for interested consumers.

Armyman...you missed the point of his question. I like what you said but he was wondering which platform to buy.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
