just curious, i will probably end up getting another rod, but would cutting 6 or 8 inches of my current wally Marshall 7ft signature rod make the tip area feel a bit stiffer and possibly gain some sensitivity.

Did not mean to offend the braid rep. But the truth will stand when the world burns down! I do not use cheap braid, rods, reels or any other equipment. Fortunately, thank the Lord, I do not have to! I also have extensive experience in Fresh and salt water and most consider me to be a competent angler. I am only sharing my experiences and meant no offence. Personally I could care less what you or anybody else chooses to fish with! It is your time and Your money but as I said different lines are better in different situations and thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Have a blessed and Merry Christmas and the Happiest New Year!

It would probably make you sick at your stomach. The 6 or 8 inches at the tip is the most important for sensitivity. Unless of course, you approach this from the other end....

I have several wally marshall rods I use for long lining and when taking clients. They are good rods. Made by Lews. You can buy a 5'6" or 6' for about 40 bucks. I bought mine so if someone dropped one out or one got jerked out I would not be out a lot of money. I also put rod floats on them. I wandertoo much. Point is they are economical yet enjoyable you might want to try one. Like BroKenneth said you cut the tip off your other one you will ruin it
Noodle rod doesn’t indicate sensitivity of the rod, neither expensive rod in a hand of uneducated would feel like broom stick.
Braid, again not all equal but most of them have the same characteristic, zero stretch, thinner diameter and float, unless you get special type braid with Gore leader to make is sink faster or 20 stand that a filler spool as expensive as a good rod or reel. Would braid improve sensitivity, yes but when you have tension at all time. A little slack, a big bowl underwater or wind that blow it left and right and you won’t feel a dang thing.
For not too expensive I recommend 6- 8lb Sufix 832, 8 stands soft and quiet, soft but not too soft to get a tip wrap every cast. It cut through water better than same diameter Power Pro so not creat big bowl under water.

ROD FLOATS, i wished i did that about 2 months ago, my first trip on my Kayak, i was fishing with a 2 week old baitcasting outfit, like 200 bucks, when i went to put the rod and reel in the rod holder in the kayak in back of me, i thought it was in there but it was in the large open area behind the rod holder, a few min later i was paddling and thought i heard a splash, and presto, it was GONE, was sick the rest of the day, rod floats or tethering from here on out.
