All Alone out there .......

Or at least I thought so .I hiked into a spot in the woods on a hiking trail .
It is almost to much for me to go up and down that little mountain.
the trail is rocky and narrow and steep .
I was into some real nice slabs and they required concentration .
The technique I was employing is super duper tricky .
A 7 foot rod with a jig set below a pinch on the line float 14 foot above the jig !
Now mind you some will laugh and some say it ain't possible .
But to be sure those that seen me in action before know it can be done .
Casting is way past tricky and landing fish is really tough as well .
The fish were in 16 foot of water and wanted the jig ALMOST dead still .
A VERY slight really SLOW drag it along got it done .
it was dead calm and cold out there and frosted ground .
Around the 3 rd fish I heard an ever so slight shuffle in the leaves behind me .
Next thing you know here comes a real pretty 20 ish gal just out for a middle of nowhere stroll in the woods ?
She looked at me like I was crazy and of course I looked at her the same way !
Never exchanged a word and we both went right on to the task at hand .
I made it back up the mountain and only had to stop twice , my newest personal best I might just mention ....
One of the fish possibly topped 2 lbs . and there didn't seem to be any under about 13 inches in the mix.
The bite was so super light if you blinked you wouldn't see it .
Was the hike worth it you might ask , first hook set and the fish don't budge an inch ....
YES it was and KABOOM is the word yawl
p.s. they liked they pearl a lot more than the yellow

Sounds like a good trip. Beautiful crappie. I think you should make a video on how you cast like that though. KABOOM!!

the thought crossed my mind ....but its so complicated it requires way to much attention to be distracted .
you have to be kinda like a fly fisherman and have back cast room and if you get it right you can sling it a good mile .
i have about 20 feet or so of line and jig and float out behind me when i launch it forward .

its sort of side sling kinda thing , not over the shoulder type of thing, less you like to hear yourself scream in pain as you bury the jig in the back a your head

I probably would have fallen and flipped into the water. Hard for me to walk, concentrate, chew gum, not get hung up in a tree casting without some kind of disaster.

Reminds me of when our Best couple friends and us went out to Yosemine and after visiting headed up the back side to go to Tahoe. Saw a bunch of folks trout fishing on a rushing stream next to hiway and stopped to check it out with my fishing buddy Bymo. When I went thru high brush to edge of stream saw a truly beautiful young gal trying to toss a bobber and baited hook out and of course I had to help her figure it out as her BF was up the stream ketchn trout. When bymo came around corner there I was next to Ms america! He always said I was lucky!

Good story and guess this is an isolated place where not many are willing to pay the price to get there. I agree would like to see your technique as well. I do something similar but not with that much line behind me.
