    Not early in my experience. I’ve caught crappie with eggs in them all 12 months out of the year for years.

    NAH ... she's just getting started !! Their metabolism will slow during the cold water times, but they'll still eat during those times. Then come warmer weather/water and the feedbag will be put on .... right up to the point where they're actively spawning.

    crappie can in fact have eggs in them year round .
    not sure if they can spawn year round ,but to be sure i ketch the same size lil bitty ones year round .
    fact is .... i am the king of dinks for sure ...and lil bitty yella bass toooooo

    we actually ketch a bunch that have been half filleted by cormorants here in Texas
