Default Not crappie but a lot of work!

I was recently approached by a guy who wouldn’t take no for an answer. He was in my shop with a buddy to pick up a 30 inch walleye reproduction. He showed me a single photo on his phone. He said I want you to do this peacock bass. I told him every way I could I was backed up. He said I don’t care how long or how much!
So quite some time and a serious amount of work later, here it is. This repro came with no head or fins attached. I had to assemble it, epoxy everything together, and paint it according to the one photo that was taken of the fish on a river in Brazil.
It is the first peacock bass I’ve ever done. You can get 20 reference photos of peacock bass and absolutely none will match any of the others. Name: IMG_1438.jpg

I just noticed, as is the case with most fish taxidermy, the colors are much lighter in the photos than to the eye. I painted a huge black crappie a few years ago and it looked wonderful under my daylight flor lights in the shop. I had it cleared and ready to go on the habitat and decided to take it out into the sunlight. One look at it and I stripped every bit of paint off and repainted it! I looked nothing like I had intended it to. Of course most fish mounts will never see sunlight but I wasn't happy and unless I'm happy, it doesn't leave my shop.

Amazing job. First on accommodating the customer and second on the end result. You should be very proud.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
