i did go over the BBG marine website, all i can say is it boggles the mind what he list, not alot in stock, but to make a decision is very difficult at the moment, i see some say maps, are these maps of lakes that have to be loaded in the unit, are units like this popular, school me.. confusing....

Brian got back to me and suggested 2 units. one was the helix 7 and the garmin 73sv. the garmin according to brian has a little more power and a touch screen. any thoughts on what would be a more user friendly unit ect.

I would not want the touch screen if you fish alot during the winter.

after more reading on these 2 units, question i have is am leaning towards the helix 7, would shallow water performance be the same in both units, and if i am right they both have 2d sonar. other than the garmin with touch screen. any thoughts. i think if i read correctly the garmin might have a better imaging due to a more powerful transducer, am i on the right track in understanding...

Agree on calling BBG Marine. Amazon typically is NOT the best deal on fishfinders. There is no better bargain than the garmin 93 sv UHD for $599. Hope some place can help you find one without sales tax and shipping.
that sounds like a fantastic price, is that with a transducer and mapping, and if i may ask where can i find that deal if i decide on the 93sv uhd

ps i did find one at sheels. but it quoted Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 93sv with GT54UHD-TM Transducer is not currently available online.
