    Default Fenwick Eagle

I am thinking about giving a Fenwick Eagle spinning rod, 7ft med light action as a gift. Can anyone give a review on this? I used to use Fenwick years ago but never the Eagle.

The older Eagle GT were decent for the price, the newer Eagles not so much. I would look elsewhere.

Not sure about the Eagles, but I am a big fan of the HMG rods. Lightweight, sensitive and great quality for the $. And my favorite is the 7ft. med Light. Great for shooting docks and casting jigs down to 1/32. If there is a concern about the quality of the Eagle rods, maybe look at spending a little more to get an HMG. I guess it depends on how much you like them LOL. Or if its for a spouse and you can "borrow" it occasionally, you won't regret moving up to the nicer rod.

Well I am just looking for an opinion on a combo that I found for a young fella who is somewhat of a beginner. I need to teach him how to use a spinning reel and tie GOOD knots. He ties granny knots on a low quality closed face spin casting set up. I found a Fenwick Eagle with a Pflueger President for $107. Of the 30 some rods I currently have I don't have a newer Fenwick to compare it to.

I have 3 Eagles in the light action and one HMX there all 6-7 foot lengths.I can't really tell any differents between the Eagles and the HMX. I have no complaints, use them for pan fishing and jigging walleyes all the time.

When you say newer Eagles are you referring to the model that was recently introduced that has the blue rod blank? The Eagle GT has a yellowish-gold rod blank, correct?

I have fenwick eagle, hmx and hmg rods. I'm a big fan of Fenwick rods... They are a good rod at a decent price point. If the eagle fits your gift budget. I wouldn't hesitate on buying it.

I would be happy receive it as a gift. When should I expect it.

My favorite vertical crappie rods are hmx 6'6 medium light fast action rods.
