    Default Out for 3 months.

Well folks as the title says I will not be fishing for the next 3 months....which will cut down on my yearly crappie count. I had spinal surgery on the 23rd and the doc says no fishing in a boat for 90 days...I may bank fish after 6 weeks but as the doc says only in a "Park Like Setting"....he's British...LOL. What that means is only on totally flat ground. Well my premier crappie spot in the fall is certainly not on flat ground. I rarely post a crappie catch on here but usually get about 2000 crappie a year. I rarely if ever keep fish so when I get on them I just keep fishing until they quit biting or I have had enough and just go home. Many times I will catch over 100 good crappie a day and when they stack up in the fall I will usually hit them for 5 days a week for a 2 month period. This year they were late arriving. But I did get a good 3 days in last week....75 fish on Monday...5 fish on Wednesday and 30 fish on Friday. The gear I use makes for a great fight. An Abu Garcia Diplomat Extreme 6' 2" UL solid tip area trout rod....a 1.5 gram Daiwa Gekkabijin saltwater light game jig head with a #8 or #10 hook...a Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet.... and 2.3# test Ester monofilament. Here is video of the action from Monday a week ago...hard to sit home knowing those fish are stacked up in there. As crappie sometimes do these fish were all same year class....11.5-12 inch fish. I have other great bank spots but unfortunately they are all on rugged ground also. Hope you enjoy the video and will be back in 2021. Life is good!

You'll be in fine shape for those spring shellcrackers! I still want to drive up and fish the dead lock with you sometime, when you get back into it. Best wishes for a fast recovery. Try not to order too much gear while sitting at home. Better hide the credit cards!
