Was looking at the garmin with 9 inch screen. Great price. Been wanting one for some time now. Wife says “ why ? you haven’t turned on the one you have in the last 7 trips “. So thought I would ask: how many folks fish the same old honey holes in the same old lakes and don’t even bother to turn the electronics on ? How many of us have fished the same lakes for so many years that it makes no sense to waste the battery time on something I don’t need “here”. Just curious.

If I'm on the water, my FF is on, simple as that. My eyes may not be glued to it on familiar waters, but it is always on.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Most of my honey holes are submerged timber and piles. If I didn't have gps and waypoints I would be fishing bridges and timber with the rest of the fishing novices!Bass Pro addBass Pro add

BTW I have the garmin and just ordered the uhd one on sale. I will have two screens now at the helm. One for maps and one for side imaging. 18 total inches of high tech beauty! Got mine from bass tank. Free shipping and no sales tax outside of OK.

son gave me new lowrance for my bday two years ago but somehow when he and buddy set it up it shuts right down and then drains my main battery so never can use it. very frustrating and I know diddly about electronics but go out and ketchm anyway on usual spots so havn't found anyone capable of fixing it and several other similar issues on my toon! oh well hopefully this winter I can get someone to fix it.

it sounds like your contrast is turned all way down so when you first turn it on its shows screen then goes dark and is really on and you don't realize it because the contrast is turned down and it drains your battery !!! try to find the manual and find the contrast section on how to adjust it or get the make and model and post the problem on the electronics forum here on Crappie.com and someone will get you setup for sure !!!!
