    Default battery/big motor question

What issues/concerns if any for using a 12volt side of a 24volt trolling motor battery setup as a starting battery for your big motor?
The big motor is a 50hp Merc.
    Thank you for your help.

You do not want to discharge a series bank unequally. They will not equalize like in parallel, the weaker battery will discharge first, and be totally ruined if pushed too far. You also do not want to be in a situation where you've ran the batteries too low to crank the motor.

A group 24 starting battery is not all that expensive or heavy, it is far better to have the motor on it's own power supply.

Not a big deal for your setup. Your motor doesn't require a lot of power to start and it's charging system isn't that robust. It's a common battery setup for smaller rigs that run 24 volt trolling motors.
    I'd rather be fishing.
