Too much movement in cold water is a problem for many crappie anglers. The guys I'm working with hear me preach presentation constantly. Keep your line straight down, your rod tip right on top of the water so you know it's not moving. This can be a big challenge in wind & add tide to the equation, a terrible problem. This time of year the "bite" is almost felt within, your sub-conscience knows it before you do, after my years "catching" my mind sets the hook before my attention registers the bite. You're so focused, to me, it's like "Using the Force" like in the Star Wars movies. It has taken time, and the ability to control your jig, keeping it still, while remaining totally focused on the interpretations of your senses inputs. I hope this makes some kind of sense to you.

Wow, that’s gonna take a lot of experience for sure. Thanks for the tip. Have a great Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for all the knowledge on this site and for sharing. I hope to become a better Crappie fisherman. I’m looking forward to the spawn!!!

I’d like to fish with a experienced jig fisherman but there’s not a Crappie guide on Lake Arrowhead. The ones I’ve talked to at the fish cleaning station are pretty closed lip. I guess they think I will catch their fish

You need to take some time, and watch some YouTube Videos. SK is in Texas, and does a lot of good, help full videos, on crappie and gill fishing. Here is his latest one.

when I pulled the SK's Youtube site up I recognized it and remembered I've watched him before. I watched one yesterday where he forgot his electronics. He's definitely got it figured out.
