After I bought it and went to mount the transducer on the bottom of the trolling motor, I then learned there was no way the transducer would fit my 45lb motor. Armed with that knowledge I not only spoke to HB, but also researched the issue. Sure enough, there was "no way" to mount the transducer as I wanted. HB thinks they provided enough information for me to know this prior to purchase. I disagree of course. Their ads could have made a statement something like "Transducer requires an 85 lb thrust trolling motor for mounting." OK. I'm done ranting. Thank you so much for your post, it was very informative.
I don't believe it is shaft length dependent. I believe the Mega ducers don't fit on the 12volt TM. Must be a 24volt TM for them to fit. And yes, HB could should post pyhsical dimensions of thier products so we could make educated decisions.

Apparently, your research only lacked a call to Humminbird Customer Service to ask them this question. Or, reading the Humminbird transducer application brochure that states the transducer will only fit an 80lb + trolling motor in order to fit by the skeg. We had several threads on here on that subject in the past year and a half.

I did too. I'm anxious to see actual picture, video of how well it performs. I bought a used boat this winter and installed all new HB/MK products including M360. Planning on adding the Live next winter. Hoping it's as good as the hype. I do like the different advertised views. Well see!

It would be really cool if they partnered with Oculas. That system looks amazing.
