Default The Statue of Liberty presentation

If you can hold as still as that you have a pretty good chance on the winter fish in a good number of lakes in Texas during the winter .
We employ it in boats and on docks and the best part is it takes ZERO skill .
If you can find the bottom and only raise the bait around 6 inches off it and not move a single muscle , they flat hammer it as hard as a crappie will ever bite !
Some of them will take it so hard it will amaze you ! A good solid winter crappie bite is worth it's weight in gold by golly ! We rolled up on steam rising off the water at 8 am , outside temp. was 32 , water temp was 54 on the surface and the shad were in poor shape all over the lake .
The birds were really working them over and the fish were on the bottom in clean up mode .
Spot one was loaded and we hammered them . spot 2 was near as good and we left after 2 hours of line snapping rod bending big fun . We both broke off on fish twice each and he had one break his line in the boat and a really heart stopper big fish beside the boat !
straight to the bottom on the jig and something shad colored on a 1/16 th and you were in the show if you could hold it VERY still .
left the water with a cooler full at 10 am
i wore the mask early because it was ccccold and later i pocketed said mask btw

Similar situation up north. Only I’m using a bobber set six ft in seven and eight ft water. Jig and nibble fished real slow tho. They’re slamming my baits right now.

but right now its pretty good in 14 to 18 foot of water .
and they will take a big ole long bait to
i also used a longer large bait yesterday and they liked it pretty well .
i was amazed at the appetite on some of the 10 inch fish i tell ya .

    Good catching....

Where is this winter that you speak of? Our water temps were still 65 last Saturday.
