Ive been using 2# casting jigs for crappie in tree tops with weedless jigs, dont seem to have an more trouble with it then my 4# test.
Ive got most poles rigged with 4# hi viz line.
10lb high vis braid and 6lb fluorocarbon leader works for everything
Depends on where you fish and whether you mind losing jigs and big fish or not. I use 20 lb braid. It has the line diameter of 2 lb mono. I mainly fish brush piles and submerged trees and logs. If I mainly fished open water or casted my choice would be different.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.
8# Hi Vis with a 6# Fluorocarbon leader for spider rigging
8# test braid with it's 4# diameter. Allows for the best lure action of any line i've used other than 4# test fluorocarbon leaders.
4-6 lb Izorline. Trying the yellow as I can see it better.
6-8 Stren or P-LINE if available .
