Default any tips for fishing lakes from shore?

title says it all pretty much. I don't have a boat and unfortunately don't plan on getting one, but I do love crappie fishing. Any tips?

Bank fishermen cast way out. Boat fishermen fish next to the bank.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Find some deep water if possible and docks can be really good places. The spring spawn you can catch a bunch bank fishing.

slip corks with minnows work for me if deep water is close by. Dropshotting gulp minnows has pulled up crappie for me.
