Are road runners good for fishing from shore?
Also would you recommend tube jigs?

    Thanks!!

Yes. Almost any small jig is a good choice for fishing from shore.

Road Runners with hollow tube plastics injected with crappie nibbles and dipped in Slab Sauce are one of my favorite go to favorite baits. Try this setup.

They both work. Cast out, then do a count down for depth, then start cranking in. But you need to know what the depth is, of the water your fishing. They fall about a foot per second. At least that is how I was taught to do it.

Road Runners are excellent baits, regardless of where you're fishing from. My preference is the marabou Road Runner, because you don't have to worry about the body slipping or being pulled down on the hook shank. I prefer solid pink, but have used solid white and solid chartreuse with great success over the decades.
I've also been known to cut the marabou down from the length it comes in the package. I usually cut it halfway between the hook bend & the longest strands. IMHO this does two things : it keeps errant strands of marabou from tangling in the swivel, and puts the "tail" closer to the hook so that short strikers are not just nipping at the longest strands and are forced to try and take the whole back half of the bait into their mouths.

Tube jigs are fine. They're the first "plastics" I ever used for Crappie fishing. But, I found hollow tube jigs to be a bit of a pain to use, simply because they're so easily pulled down on the hook shank. I started gluing them to the jighead to rectify that problem, but found that to be less effective than I wanted. So, then I went to solid bodied tube jigs, and still use them (sparingly). My current preference for plastics for casting is the "carrot" shaped plastics ... specifically the Slabanator Mini Rod & Hot Rod.

I love road runners. Bestest bait ever made. I like the Jumbos with 1/0 hook and a 3-4 inch worm or curly tail in the spring. No telling what you gonna catch with it.

Roadrunner is my favorite search bait, I fish them all but my favorite is with baby shad trailer. I also use roadrunner under float especially marabou when big slab around. I fish from shore if that matter.

You better believe it. They are great lures. I have caught shellcrackers, gills,
Crappie and some really nice smallmouth on them. Shore and boat fishing.
