Nothing better! Especially this time of the year with water temps falling.

My preference is the marabou Road Runner, because you don't have to worry about the body slipping or being pulled down on the hook shank. I prefer solid pink, but have used solid white and solid chartreuse with great success over the decades.
I've also been known to cut the marabou down from the length it comes in the package. I usually cut it halfway between the hook bend & the longest strands. IMHO this does two things : it keeps errant strands of marabou from tangling in the swivel, and puts the "tail" closer to the hook so that short strikers are not just nipping at the longest strands and are forced to try and take the whole back half of the bait into their mouths.

Tube jigs are fine. They're the first "plastics" I ever used for Crappie fishing. But, I found hollow tube jigs to be a bit of a pain to use, simply because they're so easily pulled down on the hook shank. I started gluing them to the jighead to rectify that problem, but found that to be less effective than I wanted. So, then I went to solid bodied tube jigs, and still use them (sparingly). My current preference for plastics for casting is the "carrot" shaped plastics ... specifically the Slabanator Mini Rod & Hot Rod.
Thank you for all the information! I always put the jig head through the back of the tube. Thank you!

I use 1/32 road runners with 1 inch black "Sliders " for bream/red ear . 1/16 Oz. with everything with a curly tail from Southern pro , sold by Grizzly jig for crappie if casting .

I use Road Runners with my ultralight poles when I am wanting to try a different approach from jig fishing. Like mentioned in some previous posts I do a countdown estimate and usually retrieve them slow and steady. Panfish love them.

I found out last week that they are also good for stocked trout. The 1/48oz and the 1/32oz.Name: 20201021_144158.jpg
