First trip fishing with son . . . wish us luck.

Heading out to Deer Point Lake here in Panama City tomorrow for our first father/son fishing trip, in our new-to-us Cajun boat. I have been sick for so long I have neglected his outdoors education, just got sick of the electronics and hope to show him some real fun tomorrow.

Hope to get some crappie, and maybe a bass or two or some shellcrackers, anything to put a smile on his face.

When stationed at Tyndall AFB, the wife and I just salt water fished. Our landlord also had a boat, and would take us out on it.

I wish I could report good news, but just as we were launching the boat the transmission control button on the gear stick broke, so no boat. We tried some bank fishing but no fish. We did have an adventure, and Aubrey (my son) was a big help, so it wasn't a total loss. Stuff happens, but we'll get that fixed and try again next weekend. Thanks to all for good wishes.
