Never leave home without them and some slab sauce. They both catch fish at all times, even from shore. Try to cast to some type of structure, brush pile, weeds, or shaded area from shore.

road runners work well if you have deep pockets , the depth they run to produce best is often close to the bottom .
they will ketch absolutely anything that crosses their path , NOT just fish ....
my bud loves them ,seen em lost back to back until he didnt have any more and he is about the best roadrunner guy i know
and there in lies the ugly truth sir
burned thru a many myself before i realized it was a bit to costly for my taste .....just saying
in the end though they really will hurt fish if the presentation is right ....speed kills a road runner
    must be fished slow

Somewhere between "too slow" and "too fast" is just "rite".

I have caught a lot of fish with them power trolling with a 3 oz weight three ft above them going 1 mph pushing them off the front of the boat.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I have not had much luck with roadrunners this year. One of my favorite jigs is the tube jig, in either red with chartruese tail or black with chartruese tail. I found the smaller tube jigs work better for me than the larger tube jigs.

But roadrunners are great with schooling white bass.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.

I bought some longer rods in Jan-Feb this year to try this. But somehow I never got around to it as I find fishing with the rod in my hand to be more fun. But it is still on my to do list.
