    Default Best GPS Trolling Motor?

Very likely to pull the trigger on a Lowe Stinger 175 and looking to upgrade trolling motor at the dealership (depending on credit for installed motor) and trying to find some good discussion on the GPS trolling motors. The main thing I want is to be able to "anchor" when fishing with the family and maybe pull/push cranks in the future. Most of of local lakes aren't on any fish finder map cards, so likely not concerned with linking to fish finder...unless there are some other benefits you all mention.

Personally I don't think you can go wrong now a days. You'll probably get up 3 brands recommended. Today graphs you can map the lake with your own unit. They all will have their pluses and minuses. My advise is to pair it with graph. Hummingbird/min kota, garmin/garmin, lowrance/lowrance... This site seems to be hummingbird/min kota heavy. The garmin and lowrance motors are fairly new to market.

I have a lowrance and motorguide.. Since Lowrance came out with their own motor. Support has seem to stop with Lowrance/ motorguide. As I have not seen an update in over year.

Thanks. I’ll probably end up with Garmin finders, because livescope is on the wish list. I’d love to pair, but likely not going to spend 3k on a Garmin unit. I really feel the Terrova will do what I need, but I’m not 100% certain and would spend a little more if needed.

Somthing to think about.. When I purchased my boat last year. I had the same logic as you. "I can't my self spending $1000 on larger display and extra $4000 for a 90hp to 115hp." After a year of my purchase and using my boat 1 to 2 times weeks. At the end of the day I wish I would have upgraded those two items. It wouldn't have raised my payment that much.

Look for rebates and good luck on your purchase.

I agree 100%, it all depends on what it is. I would definitely get it if there is value. I was meaning I don’t think I’d pay an extra $1000 for the Garmin trolling motor because I don’t see where i would be able to use its full capabilities. My biggest debate is the 60HP to 75hp upgrade is $2500. I don’t know if I’ll get it for ~6 MPH.

I really like the Terrova I picked up a couple years ago with spot lock....If I had to do it all again...i would spend the extra and get the Ulterra. Doesn't sound like someone you need...until the 5th time of the day when you are moving to another spot thinking...man...this could have just been a touch of a button, instead i have to go to the front of the boat, then back to the steering wheel

money can make life easy if you let it

Who needs an Ulterra when you have a wife. Picking up and dropping the electric motor is her job. She is wishing we went with that route now.
