    Default crappie population

since my wife and I are starting to get the hang of crappie fishing, after watching these crappie videos, all these monsters being caught, by the time we have all are stuff together for crappie fishing, wonder if they will be extinct. where in the world are they all coming from, hope there will be some left next year for us to catch.

Not sure where you are seeing them, but I think it will be okay. It is true that the balance of a fishery is delicate, but reproduction wise, crappie are pretty good at it. It has been a problem in ponds that crappie overpopulate, and cause stunning and loss of other game fish. Big crappie act a little differently than regular sized ones too. For this reason they have been somewhat protected from over harvesting. Now that the fancy see all electronics have come out, that could change. A healthy balance will continue to be important.

A small percentage of fishermen catch the majority of fish. Livescope has certainly helped but I'm guessing it's helping the same guys that caught them before. Fishing was really pressured this year, though, so I wonder if we'll see some new restrictions next year.
