    Default Jig head color

I`ve read and learned a lot from this board and appreciate the willingness to help fellow anglers.

I like like to longline troll and often use a variety of colors for the curly tail grubs . At any given time I start with 4 different colors behind the boat.

My question is jig heads and color.

Does color matter? I see many use unpainted

If so, do you have favorite color combination of jig head and grub?

    Thanks!

Don't really favor any particular color jighead, but do find myself using red, black, white, and chartreuse the most. I don't even try to color coordinate the jighead to the body color or to contrast them. I haven't yet seen a color on a jighead make all that much difference in getting more strikes than any other, even when using the same style plastic bodies on all rods.
The jigheads I use for trolling methods were purchased with painted heads, because the maker of them painted them ... otherwise, if they'd been unpainted, I'd have been just as happy with them. I don't use painted jigheads for casting, and when asked why I don't I just say ... well, "grey" IS a color.

Only unpainted jig heads. Lure color lighter or darker depending on what is needed to provoke a strike.

Think it’s all personal preference. Me I believe in fishing colors that contrast. I know where I fish mainly it seems to make a difference on some days. Main thing is what you have confidence in. Think that’s biggest factor.
