    Default Haven’t caught any crappie

Hi y’all! I am a humble novice (obviously) to crappie fishing (am used to saltwater). I have become obsessed this summer with pan/crappie fishing. I have done well w panfish catching some good sized ones but I haven’t caught a single crappie! I am near rivers and streams and no lakes really close to me (I am a 16 y/o w no car so I can’t go far often). Any tips on catching river crappie? I have had seriously no luck at all. I will be incredibly excited with even a tiny crappie lol. Thanks!

Edit - also if anyone has any crappie jig reccomendstuons I would greatly appreciate. Have been using Trojnt Magent and Mr Crappie jig heads w Trout Magnet grub and curly tail grubs. Also if anyone has any good panfish jigs would be happy for the advice.

    Thanks again!

Here is my advice. Obviously you have a computer or smart phone. Use or download Google Earth. Find your location and follow the river looking for public docks, bridges, or any place else that the public can access from shore. After picking an area keep fishing that area with different lures until you can decide if fish are there or not.

I usually fish the Potomac river. Have caught cat/panfish out Of it so far. I am in Arlington, VA(right near chain bridge).

That’s what I have been doing but have only had luck when going for panfish and catfish. I have hiked along the river to fish downed trees and whatnot and am having no luck.

Castingcole, look up above, and click on Fishing Forums, then scroll down looking for the Virginia state board. Then ask them your questions. They will be more than happy to give you advice, and hopefully success on catching some crappie. All we can do is give some advice, but they can tell you where.
