Just thinking that with Livescope, nightcrawlers, JDM equipment and a kayak they couldn't hide for long. The DF returns on 9-11in crackers should look similar to Crappie signatures and precise depth control of a nightcrawler offered on a sensitive piece of graphite at what ever depth they were holding should encourage a bite from even the most wary Redear. They have to eat. Ever tried slow trolling for them with a crawler, cover more water and when and if one slipped up and took a nibble you could Livescope the rest of them if they are present? I don't have Livescope, but on that lake it looks like it would be a fun tool to look around and fish without the waves and worry of boats running around everywhere.

I've had success with them previously, and am aware of all that stuff, but catching them consistently on this lake has eluded me. I just need to put in some more work looking.

Nice catch ! Would be nice to have a lake with no recreational boaters.

The trouble with them suckers is they are elusive at best when they are fairly shallow. In 20-30 fow they are master ninjas.

I went back this morning at 8AM, and the fish were gone from the previous spots, so I trolled around looking. Finally, at 10 AM and sunny, I found them deep on timber, 25 feet. These were some real big slabs, all bunched up, and I was able to stay on them for about 2 hours, then they clammed up. I kept the first 6 fish I caught, and released a bunch more, maybe 15-20 , including one or two 2 lb fish. The Greenie Weenie color TM was the ticket, they would not touch the colors I used Monday. One real heavy fish broke me off in the tree, sure would have liked to seen that one. I did not catch a single fish under 12" - all slabs. Had the beautiful lake all to myself. I called it a day at noon.

Biggest one that I kept was 1.84 lbs 15". Oh yeah, beer-batter fried crappie sandwich for lunch was excellent!

Tailgate pic is great, Slabs they are. Without Livescope, would you have found those fish? It was a beautiful day!
