Congrats. Sounds like your research and planning paid off quite well.
Finally, my patience pay off. I had been watching them, crappie, closely for the past 2-3 weeks waiting for wide open bites before my season is ended. I still caught there here and there sometime big often time small. I caught them in 10-15 FOW or maybe 2 FOW but they all spread out, hardly find them in school. I used night light to help draw them in, it worked , I caught them quite a bit but no where near wide open bite that I hope for.
The past few day I saw the trend once the sun started going down, crappie would moves to shallow area, then I saw a bunch of small shad underwater move toward the shoreline as well. My fishing strategy was fishing deep water 8-10 FOW bunching jig along the bottom first, once the light almost gone moved to shallow swimming BG Baby shad or CB sliders parallel to shore 2-3 FOW. It worked, I caught more fish than others that fish the same area.
Last night, finally my day off and time for me to get on it. Everything ready, 2 setup, 2 bobbers one and make sure not to forget Slab Sauce, but I forgot the green light. I tested out with first rig (my new 7’3) got a bite back to back to back cast all 2-3’ off shore. I told myself “ IT CRAPPIE TIME” a few more crappie, then the dang leader broke off a long with a nice crappie and lighted bobbers behind its back. Switched to another rod, took about 10-15 mins to figure out depths, jig head and plastic. Once everything said and done GAME ON bite almost next to next cast. They all mostly the same size 9-10” only a few nice one. All catch and released don’t know how many probably 50 or so. I call it quit after the last crappie broke off with my jig from hook set, the last 30 or so caught on only one plastic and I never re-tie. All in all I had a blast, it has been quite awhile. I got home right before midnight so about 3 hours of nothing but fun and a little cold at the end (forgot my jacket ).
Thanks for reading my long, happiness story haha haha.
Some of the catch the last few days.

that one is a horse for sure. WTG in figuring out the new pattern! It is frustrating for a while but can be rewarding like your good night
Last night caught another, I don’t know 50 LOL. I gotta buy one of those Fish counter, I lost track after 5-6 fish. Started off at about 8:30ish, the bite slow at first then pickup about 9:00. By the time it got cold, I called it quit look at my watch only 11:00.
Thank you, everyone for the kind word. I’m lucky to find this spot. I’m not that good to be able to figure or even find one crappie, they find me lol. All I do, was to wait and wait for them to come in for spanwning shad.
Good job, those three are really nice.
