I've been using this new Diawa Presso in 7.5' length all season now. Fine rod.

    Couple of notes :

These rods have micro guides to the tip, with the exception of the gathering guide.
This particular length rod has the extended handle (some like, some don't).
These brand rods have graphite handles & reel ring grips ... a little tape can be used for extra insurance.
This rod is cheaper to purchase thru Grizzly Jig (if in stock). (that's assuming s/h is equal between the two outlets)

(FYI) I'm a former Field Tester for the ESP brand rods ... testing the 5'6" UL - the 6'6" PowerLite - the 9' PowerJig models.
ESP also has some sort of extra sensitivity thing going on with the grips ...nice stuff

They have the rod blank going thru the graphite handle & the blank has metallic discs on it to transmit the vibrations from blank to handle. They call it VAT (vibration amplification technology)

I’m gonna order an ESP and the Academy All Star rod. I have 3 pflueger President spinning reels and dont care for them at all. Mayb size 20 an 25. They twist line up bad. Now what is a suggestion on spinning reels for these 2 rods. I use Trilene XL 4lb. Buy it bulk. Thanks!!

I would wait until I got the rods in, then put the President reels on them & see if you can balance the outfit on your outstretched finger (placed under the front end of the handle). Whichever one balances better on each rod ... find out the weight of that reel and find another spinning reel of the same weight for that particular rod. If the rods slowly lean towards the handle, that's better than it leaning towards the rod tip. But, if it falls/drops kinda quickly towards either end, then it's too heavy (handle end drop) or too light (rod tip end drop).

As to the Presidents twisting up your line bad ... be sure you're spooling the line up correctly. You might also watch your bait go thru the air when casting, as sometimes they will "spin" .... especially if you're a overhead wrist snap caster. If they are spinning .... try and develop a more fluid arm motion when casting, rather than the whip back / whip forward snap cast.

Good advice. I have two of the 20 size Presidents and they work very nicely for a reel in that price range. I have Stren Crappy in 2 and 4 lb test. I do watch how much line I spool on and keep the roller bearing nicely oiled. I occasionally have to pull some off but line is cheap to buy.

Hi CP. Not trying to be a wise guy here. Does this technology work? Seems pretty interesting.

Yeah, it does seem to help .... and when casting I'm pretty much more of a line watcher than a "tic" feeler, and yet I do sometimes still feel the tic as I'm watching the bowed line jump. Not too shabby for a rod with a very fast action tip, IMHO.
