Default Just to Clarify - Bobby Garland Baits

Not trying to reopen a can of worms here, I know the last post got a little off topic and was closed; but I do want to clarify from a previous post that I put up regarding the Bobby Garland bait's.

I did reference that I thought they were being made in China and that was and error on my part. I just new that I had seen them being made somewhere out of country and China was the first thing that came to mind. Some of you good folk pointed out that, that was not the case. So that had been eating at me cause I was pretty sure that I had seen what I had seen, and I want to make sure that I put up accurate information when I do make a post.

I was beginning to think that I may have been loosing my mind, but after all since I live here in Tulsa and new that BG had shut down their facility since I had recently went to the location for other reasons and found them gone. So I went to Walmart yesterday and purchased the two packs pictured below, which as you can see on the packages they are made in Guatemala not China but for me it's basically all the same, but that's just me.

Anyway, I'm not saying there is anything wrong or different with the baits, I'm sure I'll catch a lot of fish on them no problem. I just wanted to make sure my information that I share is correct and/or correct it if it's not.

Thanks for the update. Yes Guatemala and fort smith AR. Here’s part of a text I received back when I asked about it from a BG employee.

“Hi Ed, great to hear from you. Yes still cranking out lots of Garland from Fort Smith, AR, too. Talk to you soon. “

BG is a good brand regardless of origin. But let's look at things from a different perspective. Ok, any brand, some have their products manufactured overseas. Lots of reason for this, not just labor although that is a big reason.

So the product arrives to a port of entry or USPS, or a shipping concern type facility. The people that work in the port of entry and/or USPS/shipping company are working here in USA. Could be several layers of folks handling the product before you get it.

My point is that sometimes as many American workers are getting paid as perhaps would if the place of origin was here.

We live in a global society and trade with other countries is essential. I could write several pages about this sort of thing, I work in the outdoor industry and could but won't elaborate.

Life's short, no need to fuss about things . We have choices. We can be good people and respect other's opinions.

    Happy fishing!

I noticed my local Walmart now sells BG baits in sample packs. You get 5 baits for $1.

I hadn’t heard anything about this until right now, but I know the last couple packs of slab slayers I’ve picked up have been horrible. The tail section has been separating from the body where the two plastics are joined. They come apart either when I put them on the jig or when I catch the first fish on them. I’ll have to go and check to see where they were made. Never had this problem before

I had the same problem this weekend, they were coming apart just from putting the hook thru them.
