quality of crappie baits

i recently posted about shad type baits, been saying i like the bobby garland shad baits, after a few weeks of fishing them i notice they tear easily and split when i slip them over a barbed jig.. is there a similar bait out there that is a little tougher. i have some crappie magnet brand baits they seem to be more durable but cannot find a shad like the bobby garland one style,

cut the barb off your jig and super glue on. or use string like Richard Gene the fishing machine does , both work good.

Check out Slab Bandits by a Texas company called Crazy Angler. They are the toughest plastic baits I have tried.

I like the "Double Cross" jig heads offered by Crappie Magnet. They have smaller, side hooks instead of one large one. Seem to hole the softer plastics on well. Available at Grizzly Jig Co..

Most all tied jigs are considerably more durable than plastics. 50 years of experience with both.

It's a compromise. The softness adds to the action, you can make them tougher but they make not work as well.

I have no complaints about Slabanator jig bodies. They do seem to be as soft and a bit more durable than some commercial brand plastics I've tried. And yes, I do use them on jigheads with a retainer barb.

also as mentioned Bob’s Jigs and Slabanator Jigs are both really good. The toughest and most durable I’ve ever seen are Constant Pursuit though. No matter what though if you use barbs they all will tear. Maybe try a keeper hook instead of barb.
