Yep. Seems like that on Lake Austin although water temp never went over 78 degrees.

The bite has been tough on Joe Pool lake the last week. See plenty of fish on the brush piles and around the bridge pilings but they refuse to bite. Have tried everything from hand ties to soft baits and friends have tried minnows. They ignore it all.

I think they may need a telephone call to wake them up. Unfortunately it is difficult find an old fasion telephone with the crank handle to make the call to them.

I have not used one myself but my grandfather used one on the Tennessee River for large catfish when I was a small child. I can still remember him cranking as hard as he could and catfish floating up. He then build him a flat bottom boat and used a model t ford engine to power it. He attached two wires to the engine generator and used it to call up catfish. He was a commercial fisherman at the time, using hoop nets, trot lines and other tricks to earn his living. At that time fishing licenses were not required and there were few rules regarding how you caught fish.
