Wow, what a crazy story, EZ! Glad that part turned out OK for you.
Found the trailer. The marina had it under a pontoon they were trying to sell that they had seized for unpaid slip rental. Said that they thought the trailer belonged to that pontoon. Glad I needed the trailer before they sold it. Then I would have never known what happened to it.
sure sure they "thought" it was a trailer to another pontoon ...that is flat out horse dung my friend ...them are some crooked as a snakes back people you are dealing with over there .....makes me all kinds of hot under the collar to think they are/were doing you that way ....

I got the trailer back yesterday but now need to order new boards for it. One was missing, one was rotten and half broke off, the other two were also rotten when I checked them. Funny how fast rot can happen since I used the trailer last year and all the boards were there and in good shape then.
I understand that boards do rot but I did not think it could happen so fast. But the tires are on it and in good shape, no cracks or other signs of dry rot about them.
As bad as the boards are I don't understand how they had a pontoon sitting on it, especially with the one board missing and the one broken off half way up the trailer.

that sounds like the kind of luck i would have. why would someone steal a license plate off a boat. just disrespectful meanness i guess.
Not the boat, the boat trailer. Saved them the expense of having the trailer inspected and the cost of the license plates by putting it on their boat trailer. Texas had a big problem with people stealing license plates off cars, which is why they went to the inside windshield sticker for license plate expiration date. But you can't do that with boat trailers so some people steal them.

They had a pontoon sitting on it, with pontoon and trailer up for sale. I saw the pontoon on the sales lot around a month ago but did not realize my trailer was missing until last week, when I needed it to take my pontoon out of the water for motor service. It was just pure luck on my part when I started searching for my trailer that I saw the locks on the ladder of that trailer and realized they looked like my locks. I then went into the sales lot and verfied it was my trailer by a scratch on the fender where somebody had backed into it three years ago. I notified the marina manager, we went to the sales lot and verfied it was in fact my trailer.
But I don't understand how they were able to put a pontoon on it, given one board was missing, one board only the front half of the board and another board was just lying on the brackets, no bolts in it. I intend to ask the marina manager today how they were able to put it into the water and load the pontoon on it. Seems as if the unattached board would have floated away when the trailer went into the water and the brackets for the missing board would have damaged the pontoon of the boat as it was driven upon the trailer. Of course when I used it last year all the boards were in place and in good shape. So somebody had to have switched boards as boards do not rot that fast and they do not disappear if they do rot.
Only thing I can think of is the boards were switched after the pontoon was removed from the trailer and the trailer was placed back into the secure storage area. There was a two day time period between me finding the trailer and me seeing it back in the storage lot. I did not notice any missing boards when I found it but I did not pay any attention to the boards at that time.
I don't believe the marina manager would change the boards so it is a mystery to me what actually happened and when it happened. Which is why I am going to ask him about the boards today. It is going to cost me $550 to get the boards replaced with marine grade pressurelized boards and marine grade carpet so I am not too happy right now.
