Default they said up there. done there

well i went to a lake we hear is good for crappie, we get there there was the end of a bass tournament, was watching the weigh in, a few over 5lbs were among some nice bass, so after the weigh in a got talking to some of the anglers where i might find some crappie, most said across from the launch on the other side and some said down by a narrow channel. launched the boat and headed for the spots and other area's we tried. results were not satisfying. no crappie, one perch and one bass. we used the same small trout magnets and bobby garland baits we use in other lakes and caught crappie nothing big most 6to 8 inch long, that is why we went to this new lake that were supposed to produce nice sized crappie. where did we go wrong

Could be a lot of things. Did you use your sonar to see if you could find bait on structures? Did it show fish as well? I usually do not pay attention to actually seeing fish on a graph, but rather search for bait balls on structure, which will bring in most game fish. Sometimes the bite is difficult, regardless of previous successes, but you should be able to at least get a single crappie to verify the area has potential. Try it again and if you get the same results, search other structures.

You must find the fish . Sometimes on cover and other times suspended . In the fall here so many small Shad they won't put in alot of effort to chase a bait . Good electronics to find cover and fish helps . Side imaging a great tool to hunt . Live scope really helps when not aggressive , you can hold a bait on their nose .

Was this the Corp lake you asked about, on the Pa board? Was you trying deep or shallow, or in between? Since we are starting to be in the fall mode, you may want to start shallow, then work your way out. They are looking for minnows and shad balls, and you want to fish in sunny areas, where temps are warmer. Having a map of the lake, will help you tremendously.
