Default How to use a Perch Rig/Pan fish rig

Some fellow Crappie dot com members (Steelguy, Spartannation and Vbottom) and I met up on a local lake where Steelguy was catching the heck out of panfish the day before. I'm sure everyone on this forum knows how to use a perch rig, but I am always hoping to help anyone that may not know.

At any rate, we had a great day on the water catching fish, as good friends do!

I hope you enjoy this short video and if you can pass it along to anyone who is just getting started.....feel free to share it with them!

    Tight lines

He forgot the 3rd hook on the bottom. Put a snelled hook on with the sinker, deadly on perch.

    He, would be me.

I didn’t forget a 3 rd hook because the perch rigs come out of the package as you see them.

But I’m interested in hearing if the sinker is on the bottom of the lake how does attaching a hook to it work?

Seems a lot like a drop shot rig, or a Pompano rig if your surf fishing. Although, a Pompano rig has small floats on the out rigger lines.

It lays a bait on the bottom. When you bounce the weight it creates a poof of sand or mud and fish come to check it out. They see the bait laying on the bottom and pick it up. Keep your pliers handy as most times they swallow it before you feel them moving off with it. This works great on Lake Erie for us.
