on a side note ,I never even retied and never lost the jig and managed 43 on that dock before I moved on to my second spot I like and changed jigs to better suit that second location .
and yes KABOOM is the word as well
I hit a spot I love about an hour from home , ample numbers of fishing docks and large amounts of crappie reside there . Started the day at 8 am when they open and started getting bit right away .
I chose a grey ghost hand tied jig and they bit it over and over , but for some reason I wasn't hooking fish?
I thought to myself I know that's not bream down there and I am thinking well darn I guess as I age I am just not fast enough on my hook sets anymore ......
So about the time I finally hooked one, a guy I know showed up and he started having the same issue as well . He said maybe they are bream and I said I am pretty sure it's crappie and they are likely little ones .
Well as time went by I started hooking more fish and figured out the better ones were well below the pack of baby crappie that were trying to eat the jig . So I went deep with my jig and started getting VERY subtle takes and keeper size crappie . Very close to the bottom was the ticket ,like mere inches off it ,so to get that depth just so ,I was dropping down until my line slacked and just raising the jig a few inches .Well at one point I went to move the jig and it loaded up and I thought it was over for that jig . Then much to my surprise as I tried to break it off , it came up VERY slowly and felt like I had snagged a condo or something similar .
When it finally appeared I was in that are you kidding me mode . I managed somehow to drive the wedge jig sideways in the middle hole of a really old BRICK !
Thank goodness my 6 lb. Zebco line was up to the task , bricks are really heavy when they sit on the bottom forever

you know i guess you could call it the hole in one in fishing , its liable to be a once in a lifetime thing . to be sure getting a jig sideways in the hole of a brick ....well thats about the best of the best no doubt...
they dont call it a wedgehead for nothing no doubt about it
