Lesson re-learned today

Today my son and I went to the lake in search of crappie. We fished from 7am to 2pm. Zero fish. Talking with other people and we found that they had the same results. We vertical jigged shallow and deep brush. We vertical jigged channel bends. We drifted points. Nothing worked. At 2pm we decided to shake things up a bit. At a large flat in 28 fow we pulled 4 crankbaits. Bandit Chart/blue, Bandit Orange Crush, Bandit Pearl, Pico Sexy Shad were the choices. I sped things up a bit and the gps said 2.1 mph. In 20 yards of the first pass we netted a nice white bass. On the return pass of the same stretch we picked up 2 10" white crappie. On the next pass a small largemouth bass and another white bass. Guess what??? All were caught on the Orange Crush Bandit with very aggressive strikes in 1 hour of fishing. Who would have thunk it?

The lesson that was "re-learned".... don't waste valuable time on unproductive patterns/methods. Don't be afraid to switch to some of your forgotten and less used colors. Let the fish tell you what they like but they have to see them to tell you. There's no reason to keep beating a dead horse
