    Default Poor me

First drop just tied it on jig and THUMP sets the hook snaps line
next jig first drop good take sets hook ...bluegill
a few drops later soft take sets hook burns the drag snaps the line
new jig a few drops later nice thump sets the hook slab comes off on the hoist
    bite stops changes colors ...nothing
goes back to the original color gets a nice take sets hook snaps line AGAIN !
loosens drag ties on new jig and gets really busy and serious ....
hammered a few and by that time it was to hot out there to stay and get REALLY even with them fishes
sure did lose a few jigs , stripped some line off to get to possibly fresher line and this particular spool is only a week old .
might think about 8 lb test ,i said might
the pro i went with the other day suggested it and its what he had on the rig i borrowed .
i hate breaking off on a fish ,brush and or other inanimate objects who cares .
    fish i care
was a tough lunch break ....
but sometimes it is what it is you know

Power pro super slick braid. Never EVER leave home with it. Never EVER break a fish off again. Your choice of strength. I use 20lb . Hasn't affected the crappie bite one bit in a decade.

I use 8 lb on my brush setups. My BnM rods came pre-spooled with it and I really liked it and stuck with 8 lb.

it will effect the bite without your knowledge , i saw it the other day very very obviously with 3 people side by side and exact same baits at the exact same depths on a boat not holding still . the 2 with jigs tied straight to the braid NEVER got a bite while the clear mono person hammered standing right between them.
the big fish they were on most assuredly didn't want to see it in the clearer water at that spot . if all 3 had braid they would have just said they weren't biting .

That’s what they make leaders for Ketchn.
    I prefer the Bonehead braid,
I do use a leader, when the fish tell me to.
Glad you got out and sampled some fish.
Did you say borrowed a rod ?
Say it ain’t so, I figured you had one built in l, as often as you get to fish! LOL

Them there PRO fessional boyz insisted i use a 10 footer a week or so ago when i went out with them .
i told them i only carry 4 to 6 rods in my truck and NONE exceed 8 ....
they let me use a 10 ft wally marshall something er other pro something something with 8 lb mono
as far as the braid goes i just cant get into that stuff , it performs great for some applications ,but all to often i change up my presentation and it most assuredly doesnt fit my need to diversify midstream .
i know there are times i wish i had on braid , but more often than not i am glad i didnt have on braid
no worries though i got some rods with dust on them in the garage with braid on them i promise
i do this much ..MOST of the time crappie dont care if its tied on straight to the jig ....i said most
