I know I will be called a mean old man but maybe that will keep them in the deeper water instead of the areas I fish if they find a few of the stumps. Now if we could just convince the bass boat crowd to use them. Might teach them to observe good fishing manners when they enter a fishing area.

i loved the guy this week that blasts in on plane well into the no wake zone and hits the idle about 60 feet from us at a 45 degree angle .
there aint a way to make a much larger wake on a defenseless tied up boat you know .
and then idle by at 30 feet away looking straight forward like he was doing us right .
i think in his mind he lack of boat operation skills told him he was doing the right thing .
there should most for sure be a boat operators license issued long before you may actually operate one

Ketchn - I agree 100%. The problem would be, just like with vehicles, no "refresher" courses. Some people forget the rules, or simply do not care.

I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that most just don't care. It's all about "me" with most of them so they can't take a few minutes extra to get where they are going to do the right thing.

I was told by a couple when I mentioned they should come off plane before they reach a fishing area and idle in that they only have a bass tournament once a week and I shouldn't fish that afternoon if I didn't like being rocked all over the place by their wakes.

I was told by another that he paid money to fish the tournament and if I didn't like his wake I could leave the lake.

And of course, most use the tired old fiction that they generate less wake when they rocket by you than if they slowed down and idled past you.

I wonder why they get so upset if you return the favor and go to full throttle when you leave the area they are fishing?

and of course when you buy a big fast boat .....its pretty obvious you have a need to go big and fast

Anything that gets the wakeboarders onto more stumps is a great idea. How about an upward facing prop?
