Duracell Platinum AGM marine/rv deep cycle from Sams Club (got 'em when on sale for around $150 each). I use a Dual Professional 15 amp charger. I have it mounted in the boat locker, with the AC cord wired to a waterproof AC connector for extension cord to plug in, by Marinco. Plug in one cord, easy peasy.

Couldn’t you just put each of the 2 strings of 24 v in parallel to up the runtime?
I had the same problem and I did what MRDux suggested and changed mine out to the golf cart batteries. That solved my problem.

The 24v motor will be fine for the 486. I used to have a similar hull Javelin. My 20’ Triton also had an 80v Terrova and had similar runtime issues with group 29 and 31 wet cells. Made the move to golf cart batteries and never looked back. While heavier and a bit taller, they share the same footprint as a group 31 and doesn’t require an extra 100+lbs of weight up front from an additional two batteries plus another charger, switch, etc. Price them out at your local golf cart dealers to compare prices.
Rather than switches, add another TM plug for the second set of batteries. Plug the motor into the first plug, and when those batteries get weak just move the cable to the other one.
