Default Anybody use this while spideriging?

The reason I ask, is because I usually just hook the minnows thru the front lips, and have missed countless fish and lost minnows, I'm guessing from short striking? And I thought maybe this would prevent that and lead to better hookups on fish. Just wondering if anyone on here uses this method. ThanksName: e922b187af65efdf2f7937150082af5f.jpg

I have tried to tie them up but for some reason I can’t get them tied right where they are short enough. Plus here we are limited to 2 hooks per pole. But I have always figured if you could get it right it would catch a lot more fish.

I hook minnows thru the eye socket if using regular/plain hooks (behind the eyeballs, not thru them) and run a jig hook up from under the V of their lower jaw and out between the nostrils. I'm generally using #2 Aberdeen hooks in both cases, and still have a free moving minnow.

I believe such a stinger hook rig would not only likely restrict the movement of the minnow, but it's a sure bet you ain't getting the rig back should you wander into a brushpile.

I agree that the above probably will limit the movement of the minnow, but I also considered threading them like this, I figured maybe it would still have good action/movement but still catch those short striking fish. I don't know thoName: live-bait-rig.jpeg

This brings back memories. I used to use this “thread” method for stream fishing swifter waters for smallmouth and rainbow/brown trout
