Back years ago around 1999 or 2000 I was working on an assembly line with a guy and noticed he hadn't been to work in days. I asked where Lynn was and they told me he got bit by a
tick and caught Lyme's and was struggling to get back healthy. Next thing I knew he was on short term disability....then he was on long term disability. He never came back. Lyme's caused him to develop rhemotoid athritis. He was not an outdoorsman at all. He caught it mowing his yard.

From my experience in SEMO and S IL....permethrin does great on ticks...less so for chiggers and zero for skeeters. 100% Deet for the last two . Pro tip....Deet will eat the finish completely off your favorite squirrel rifle !!

I feel very fortunate that I've never contracted Lyme's as I've pulled a bunch of Ticks off me over the years. I've always processed my own deer, and we had a Walk-in cooler (converted reefer truck) at deer camp, and would hang/aged them with the hide on for several days until I left camp. When I would take them out of the cooler to the skinning shed to process, the ticks would come to life and be crawling all over them, and me.

Sadly, we never took Lyme's very serious back in the day, but have become much more cautious of ticks the last ten years or so.

I've processed somewhere between 75-100 deer during that time so I'm extremely greatful that I've never gotten sick.
