Thank you so much for sharing. Sounds like you have keeper for sure. All that's missing from your post is a wedding pic. Would love to see one from way back.
Confession time for this perch-jerker. Years back (45) I met and married my bride. Our children (daughters) were nurtured by the greatest Mom they could ask for. Quality ladies, all 3. Assets to the world.
Now back in the day, when courting and early years of marriage, I would write letters to Mrs. Went remote overseas, and wrote them thoughts. Back before computers, and texting. She still has every single letter! for what ever reason, 1984 was probably last writing. Sure, birthday , Mothers Day, grab a card, annually. But the intimate spur of the moment ceased.
Well, Friday I committed to acknowledge THAT ANGEL, going forward. She is my world. And I know I ain't the only old guy that needs to make their Lady's heart smile..
Never, not a single time, has she ever complained about me going fishing. Even tells me to go, when she sees the need. Oh, Yeah !!!
Take a minute. Scratch a note, stick it on randomly for her to find. Reminder of the guy she feel in love with.
Sorry for the rant....My Bride is awesome

Beautiful post and good thoughts. Went down that road myself when I was in SE Asia during the war.

My first thought is she reads this forum and you want a new boat , of course it could also be like you said and she just deserves to be recognized ,either way that was a great read and she sounds like an angel sent to you from above .
congrats sir

Very well said my brother. I am as guilty as the next when it comes to not giving my awesome wife the credit and recognition she so richly deserves.
I am constantly finding myself "regrouping" or "reprogramming" my day to do just that.
Thanks for having the courage to make such a confession/promise.

I also married my high school sweetheart, but it was only after each of us had a false start in married life. We finally got back together 10 years later after both of our spouses left us high and dry. When I look back I know that she was a God send, but only after we had been tried by fire and proven worthy of each other. We fish together 99 percent of the time and right now we're both really missing it because of her being laid up with a broken arm first and now a rotator cuff surgery. It's been almost two years of not fishing together except for one trip where we fished in a fish house, she using only one arm and having someone else unhook her fish. A couple of nights ago while sitting in our easy chairs, she held out her hand for me to hold, as she often does, and asked me "do you remember our first real kiss?" I looked her in the eye and saw that she was thinking that maybe I had forgotten, after a little moment of silence I told her exactly when and where. She lit up like a Christmas tree and gave me a heavenly smile, no words were needed. I thank God every day for her. The last two years have been a struggle for her with first one arm and then now the other out of commission, but it's been my blessing to be able to wait on her had and foot. We went to see her DR. yesterday and he told her to resume using her arm to the point of pain and then stop. Thank you Lord, I can see a fishing trip in our future, I might just get my new motor broke in yet.

I married the girl across the street 40 years ago. She has a strong fear of the water, but never tells me not to go. Over the years she has only graced my boat less than 10 times. God gave us direction through the years and she has been my strength. I put in a lot of miles while making a living and she made sure that our two girls knew the right path, and they’ve both turned out beautifully. I’ve been blessed with a keeper, and from some of the earlier posts I’m not alone. We are a lucky few.......

Well said my friend. My wife and I will be married 51 years this year. If things are important to her then it must be a priority for you. Stay blessed.
