That is interesting about the TMs. I wonder why - glad they work in my neck of the woods.

not sure why Bob , probably has to do with its profile , maybe it emulates something colder waters have as a prey item better than warm waters ?
I bought some once about 8 years ago because i needed a "purple" bait on the lake i was heading to from intel saying it be best to carry something purple .
managed to ketch a few on it ,but went back to fatter profile plastics due to lack luster results and the ketch festival got back on track .
Tried them again at another spot and found the same thing , now mind you this ...
if my local spots indicated to me the fish like them as i have seen posted in other parts of the USA and i was visiting those spots and or lived there , i most likely would have several colors of them and in numbers

I don't see the hype over TMs either. I bought into it, have several packs and they just look like a chunk of plastic with a split tail that really doesn't have any real action. In fairness, I've only tried the crappie magnets and Panfish magnets. I wish I knew where trout magnets fell on the size scale compared to the Panfish magnets. Their site isn't helpful. Just a photo of the different magnets compared to each other and a ruler would be so helpful.

TMs have no "schtick". Bream bugs are a bait I like. 4 little appendages, and after a few fish, a few (if not all) are gone. I'm sure some people change the bait when that happens. The Betts spins have a seriously firm body. I can fish them for a long time and the exterior gets grated up by the fish, but it's still very solid. The panfish magnet certainly catches fish for me. I just don't understand it.

Do you think that all of us on here who catch fish with TM's is hype? Do you think the 106 videos I made in 2 years of where 95 percent of the fish are caught on a TM is hype? You need to stick with what works for you. Speak nice about the lure you catch fish with but don't badmouth lures other folks are catching fish with. Did you ever think you maybe you don't know how to fish a Trout Magnet?

    Regards

I understand that the bait works great for you but that surely doesn’t mean it works great for everyone. They don’t produce for me consistently here in nw Pa. They worked good for me at Ky Lake tho. I’m not having trouble catching fish using other small plastics. They just don’t care for those tm’s no matter what color I present to them. As great as they work where you’re fishing, they just don’t produce where I am. You come off as being really touchy about them. Relax. Baits don’t work everywhere for everybody.

As I said to Ketchn I certainly accept from an accomplished fisherman that TMs don’t work for him or Chaunc, but I just wonder why. Maybe the local forage just doesn’t match up well, don’t know. I have a very good friend that bought some on my recommendation that also has not had much success with them, and he is a good fisherman. I tried the TMs last year after reading what Randy had to say, and they have been nothing short of a killer bait on my warmwater creek. I know they don’t look like much, but for me they work. I read from someone on here that confidence in the lure you’re using is a factor in your success with it. That might sound a little strange but I think there is some truth to it. At the end of the day, fish what works for you and don’t look back.

I started using trout magnets to catch gills and had excellent results, also catch cats, crappie, drum, bass, etc. I use TM jigs and sickle jigs tipped with a nibble or a tiny worm chunk. I use 1/32 or 1/16 pink sickle jigs with a chartreuse TM body for crappie. I fish Kansas lakes.Name: 20200426_165820.jpg
