    Default Longlining Reel Recommendations Wanted

I am considering purchasing all new reels for my long-lining poles. These will be used for long-lining 90% of the time and possibly spider rigging on occasion. I am going to buy 12 so I don’t want a Cadillac model just a good cheap reel. Your recommendations and experience with various reels will be appreciated.

    Thanks and tight lines!

    Richard

I know some people that use Shimano IX 2000 reels for Spider Rigging, because they're inexpensive (~$15/ea). The IX2000 reels hold 120yds of 8lb test mono, so they'd work OK for Longline Trolling, too.

Sorry, Richard ... but, I have no personal experience with these reels.

I use the 10 dollar Zebco spinning reel that Wal-Mart sells. Going on 4 years and narry a problem.
