    Default Reel for jigging rod

Looking for a lightweight reel for my 12’ jigging rod.
I’m sure it’s been discussed many times but can’t seem to find anything in search.
Can you steer a newbie in the right direction.

I put a Mitchell 308x reel on my 12' BGJP .... and to be honest with you, it's still a little tip heavy even with the 8.6oz reel. This rod is not the rear seat model, by the way (just in case yours is).
Now, I'm not going to be using my outfit to "vertical jig" with ... it's going to be for "flipping" double jig rigs for Livescope fishing.

I do have a Shakespeare Alpha UL reel on my 10' Sam Heaton rod, which is what I was using for that purpose (prior to getting the 12' BGJP) when fishing this way in a buddy's boat ... and it worked very well and is fairly balanced. But, two more feet of rod length does call for a heavier reel than that little UL, IMHO.

Pappy, mine is for vertical jigging mainly in pads. I won’t be casting, just need a reel that will hold the line.
It’s a HT rod which has an adjustable reel seat and I’m planning on making it as far back as possible.

I like the Pflueger Presidents I have. I also have some Lews Mr. Crappie spinning reels that I like as well.

Marvin, that’s kinda what I was thinking of.
Buck, I have those on my UL spinners and love them but don’t need the casting ability with this setup.

How deep will this set up be used ? The president series is a great little reel but B/M AND Lew' s make small spinning reels that will work great for half the price . If jigging less than 15 ft. go with a simple line holder such as a Slater .(GOOGLE )
