If I can leave you with one thing it is to always remember his laugh, it will serve you well when you think him or maybe sometimes when you catch yourself doing something that would have tickled him. When I read your post I immediately saw my dad in a full gut bustin’ laugh, tears running down his cheeks!!! Thanks for that!

My sincere condolences to you and your family, what a wonderful tribute to your Dad. Makes me think of my own Dad and how he loved to fish. Thank you for posting.

I lost my mother on June 13 very much the same way. We were with her holding her hand when she passed very peacefully. Still very much grieving and worrying mostly about my 79 year old dad now, but your pain will ease. Ours has. Take care and always remember them. That’s what they would want for us, isn’t it?

My mama told me that she remembered her daddy loved to sing the hymn “Farther Along.” His favorite verse was “Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine. You’ll understand it all by and by.” Grandpa sang it and said it to people all the time, she said. Mom also loved Elvis Presley, so here’s you a link to the song that we played for my mother before she passed and at her service. Hope it helps you as much as it did me. Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine.
