Got to the lake one Friday evening after playing Indy 500 the whole way there. I did it, I beat the crowds, the water like glass. I gas up the jet ski and fill up the oil. I take off, and I ride HARD, (we had the only 3 seater with a bilge pump). Welp I flipped like I've done so many times. I righted the ski and was off again. All in this was maybe a 20 minute ride when I look down and my oil light is on.... Seriously I just put in a full gallon. Got it back to the dock and popped open the hatch... I left the lid off and dumped about 2 gallons of oil inside the ski covering Everything!. Spent the next several hours and used a full bottle of Dawn cleaning it up.

I've told this one. In early 80's , living in Louisiana working offshore. I'd bought a tracker x-17 with 25 hp. I was in my 20's, tm was no good. Buddy of mine told me his dad had a old tm we could mount and use till I bought new one, he said I'll get it and mount it so we can fish when I get back (ok). Headed to Henderson swamp cause bream were on the bite. Put boat in , I asked on the way , how he mounted everything sounded good. Started out to big water to I-10 bridge. Passed another boat coming in , I'm on plane. Hit other boats wake and tm bounces up and locks down, and it's gone, snatched nuts &washers through plywood and power wires into at connectors. I stop boat and turn around we fish for tm , no luck. Then my buddy said I remember now dad said tm didn't lock in stow position. So there's still a old evinrude brute at bottom of swamp.

Dad died when i was young. Cancer sucks!!! Being down in the dumps I decided to buy a boat and fish to get my mind off things. Making that boat payment was about all I could afford. Me and two buddies head to the lake one afternoon. We get close and I tell them I’ve got to put gas in my truck to get home and ask them to pitch in for gas in the boat. Neither had any cash on them and this was before debit cards. We decide it’ll be fine. Of course we run out of gas, storm rolls in blowing dead in our face as we try and make it back to the ramp. After a while the TM batteries die and we’re blown back in a cove. For some reason about 45 minutes later with it still storming two guys from our rival high school pull up. They pulled us back to the ramp. To this day I still support their family business and buy anything I can from them.

A few weeks later I’m out fishing with one of my dad’s good friends in my lil boat when these two kids younger than me come flying up the lake in their daddy’s brand new Ranger. Little did they know at that part of the lake you had to follow the river. They hit mud and then stumps. I finally convince the older guy with me that we should help them. However, when we got close and they realized help was there they decided to become loud mouth punks and smarted off to the older guy with me. He was driving my boat.....took off and left them stuck in the mud. I felt bad after getting help a few weeks before but the older guy looks at me and said it’s obvious they haven’t learned their lesson and don’t care about daddy’s boat. Let them sit there.
