backed the boat in on a new lake/ramp
boat won't come off trailer; telling my buddy to hang on to it on the dock..finally slides off trailer
I drive out to park truck/trailer, dragging the motor toter/transom saver on the ground behind the trailer; it was bungied to the outdrive...smh
Launched my first boat knowing the motor wasn't going to crank but I was fishing really close spots so no worry. Climb in boat shove it off and realize I forgot to put the pedal to the TM back in the boat after a thorough cleaning the night before.

I am not feeling so lonely for doing a dumb thing, the tighty whiteys gave me a good chuckle.
Fishing with a friend we were going to anchor up on a current seam, he had a very nice very new Richtor anchor and chain, puts the anchor in the water goes to the back of the boat gets his rod ready. We are still drifting down river he goes to the front of the boat no rope no anchor nothing, he forgot to tie it to the boat. He had 75 feet of anchor rope do you think we could snag that darn rope tried for an hour using treble hooks and weights.
I took my canoe out one windy fall day a few years back and decide to fish across the lake. The wind was blowing hard and there was a good chop on the lake. My canoe is a square back, so I have a trolling motor and battery in the back where is sit. Which means most of the weight is in the back of the boat when I’m by myself, resulting in minimal freeboard.
As I’m cruising across the lake, I happen to look back and notice that water is pouring over the back of the boat, and I am seconds away from sinking. My lizard brain actually make a good decision and I threw myself across the middle of the canoe, which kept it from sinking, however I am now motoring across the lake without being able to control the speed or direction at all. I decide that I will try to drive the canoe by leaning to one side or another, then aim for a cluster of flooded trees so I can hopefully beach myself before sinking. I managed to reach land, remove all my stuff before flipping the canoe over to empty the water out, and made it back in one piece. I religiously pack my bailing pump every time I go out now and always check the weather for wind.

When we use my fishing buddies boat, he lets me out on my side of the lake, then crosses the lake and loads his boat Hes 80 and I'm 78. One day we are discussing if out life jackets will inflate automatically if needed or would we have to pull the red tab. He didn't know nor did I, but we thought "no big deal" cause with our wisdom we would pull the tab just to play it safe. The next time out I said " Ledge, did you ever figure out what to do if we fall in the lake?" He hesitated and said " Its automatic, you don't have to pull the tab". Of course my first question was "How do you know?"
When I finally prized the truth out, it turns out that, yesterday ,when he stepped from the boat to the dock, the boat slipped back and he fell in the lake! He then bobbed to the surface and climbed out. I asked," Okay Ledger did you think about pulling the tab if the jacket hadn't auto inflated?" His answer "Not one damned time"!
To polish it off of course he goes home soaking wet. His wife asks how come you are wet? He said "didn't it rain here?" The sun was shining brightly and to this day he has never told her anything different.
