Yep and theirs nothing like standing at the ramp while your dad backs the boat in and has you hold the mouring/ anchor line so the boat drift away while he parks said boat and trailer. Only problem is the rope isn't tied to boat just coiled on the deck. boat floats, dad pulls off, boat floats out about 200 ft. Dad comes back, asks wheres the boat, and why didn't you hold the rope. you show him the rope in your hand and point to the boat. Dad, jumps in water and retrieves boat, then realized his wallet is still in his wet pants....pulls boat to dock, ties boat to dock after securing rope to boat. retrieves truck and trailer, and re-trailers boat. pulls in parking lot and strips off wet clothes. On way home gets pulled over by police for not securing boat to trailer,(forgot to attach bow line and boat just about to fall off trailere. Cop asks why he was naked, and after explanation, both had a good laugh. Cop leaves dad in truck and cranks boat back onto trailer, makes dad put on wet pants, and lets us go...This happened in 1964, I was 8 yrs old, And I remember it well...

Left the straps on, done that.

Watched my dock rope untie itself from the cleat while standing on the dock holding it, done that. Attempts to lasso it were not successful. Thankfully there were some kids swimming in the area that happily retrieved it.

Ran up on a tree stump, done that. Tried walking around all corners of the boat to float it off, didn't work. Eventually just have to fire up the big motor and give 'er. No harm done, thankfully.

Set a bottle of slab sauce on the bow plate, and then watched it disappear into the depths when I knocked it over, done that.

backed down the ramp, cut the boat loose, set down in the console only to realize the keys are at home.

had an old terry boat with a motor guide tm on it. the tm mounting screws stripped and the tm took off running straight down. grabbed the foot pedal and fished it out.

Launched my boat, forgot to tie it up.
As its drifting away i look around, no one near,
strip down to undies and dive in.
Get it back to the dock.
    Get dressed, go fishing.
    Luckily it was July

This happened just this past Sunday. We decided to kayak a local river that I have floated many times in a Jon Boat.....over 40 years ago. I decided to take some fishing equipment, rod and reel, a couple of Plano boxes of Smallmouth tackle, water, dry box, etc. I am bringing up the rear, throwing my lure in the deep dark spots. I notice the other 3 in our party going around an island on the right hand side, and having trouble because the water was shallow. I made a quick decision that the left side was probably deeper, so off I went. The width of this side of the river was pretty narrow, and I noticed myself picking up speed as I fished. I reeled in, and saw that the land owners had placed large rocks across the width of the river.......all were about 8-10 inches underwater to create a low head dam effect. I knew this was trouble, and that I had a very small chance of crossing it in an 11’ kayak, but I had no choice because of the swift water! Turns out, I was right, I couldn’t just cross it. As I was half across, the nose of the yak buried, and it flipped! Somewhere on that river is a Plano box full of tackle, a new Lightning rod and reel, and my water for the remainder of the trip. I am submerged in 60 degree water, trying to catch my floating stuff, and right my kayak. The remainder of my trip was a wet, no fishing trip!
